Description of the work

Review of normative, institutional legal procedures and environmental issues assessing the latest developments on the implementation of small scale hydro electric plants in EU/partners countries, identifying the strengths, main obstacles and weak points of existing practices for concessions.

Outcome of this work page:

  • Handbook, addressed to Public Operators, with the summary and critical review of existing normative, institutional procedures and environmental issues to install hydro electric plants, including the following topics:
  • Administrative and technical procedures to obtain concession to derive water, used from the public local authorities in each countries of the partnerships: strong and weak points of any legislation;
  • Intervention strategies for improving of existing procedures related to the implementation of mini hydro plants;
  • Environmental issues concerning the installation of different types of mini hydro plants;
  • Social needs underlying the development of small scale hydroelectric generation plants;
  • Connection of mini hydro plants to the electric network in different countries;

Deliverable(s) of this chapter:

  1. D 2.1 – Handbook addressed to Public Operators (colour photos and opaque paper, 30 copies in English available for each partner), by FSBUZ + KAZUP;
  2. D 2.2 – Handbook addressed to Public Operators translated into the national languages of the partners.
